“Multidimensional Consciousness: an anthropocosmic perspective” explores both the physical and metaphysical aspects of consciousness, bridging the gap between its scientific, philosophical, social and spiritual conceptions. It is the fruit of nearly a decade of anthropological fieldwork in alternative medicine and “shamanism” in Western Europe. This book considers our relationship with ourselves, others, and the cosmos around us in a style that is engaging, grounded and insightful for both reflective and active readers. Pertinent for those who have a theoretical interest in the philosophy of consciousness as well as for those working to advance on their path of self-growth and development, the examples, reflections, and considerations that this book contains are intended to shed light on the interactions we all have with the cosmic intelligence that surrounds us and ways in which we can further foster our experiences of higher consciousness.

LAUREL McEWEN
An American anthropologist in Paris, France, Laurel McEwen has a PhD in anthropology and ethnography from the School for High Studies in Social Sciences (EHESS). She specializes in medical anthropology, conducting research and ethnography focusing on the epistemology and the ontology of science, medicine, and both contemporary and ancestral medical practices. She teaches university courses on anthropology and trains hospital staff on the interculturality and medicine. It was her doctoral fieldwork that brought Dr McEwen to discover the practice of shamanism in Western Europe. She began exploring the practice of several South American shamans in Paris, which opened a path to a plethora of alternative medical practices in France and beyond. Fascinated by this world and the experiences it entailed, Dr McEwen began a quest for understanding facilitated by a holistic vision of humans and the cosmos.
